This coffee is a Micro Lot Select release — the winning coffee from the first specialty coffee auction ever hosted in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Congolese soil has produced extraordinary coffee for generations.

But for decades the world has come to Congo digging for cobalt, coltan, and diamonds — the minerals that power our phones, laptops, and electric cars — while the farmers growing incredible crops were rarely given the same recognition.

And yet, in the midst of all that, Congolese farmers made a choice.

An audacious one.

To host the first specialty coffee auction in their country’s history and celebrate their own crops.

Through our long-standing partnership with Jim Ngwokey of Optimist Traders, Cxffeeblack was honored to purchase 100 pounds of the winning lot and share it with our community.

Produced by members of the Majirane Coffee Cooperative, this coffee represents the optimism and craft of Congolese farmers choosing to celebrate their own harvests.

Congo deserves to enjoy the fruit of its labor.
