The Baganda people of Uganda knew coffee as a blessing long before it was a commodity. Ripe cherries wrapped in banana leaves. Steamed. Given to guests arriving at home. Not a beverage. A welcome.

The specialty industry spent decades overlooking Uganda. Mountain Harvest spent years proving them wrong — from the inside, with Ugandan hands. Their Innovation Series puts young Ugandan professionals in charge of processing research. Not based on Latin American models. Based on what works here.

The Fruit Angel is what that research produced: 120 hours of anaerobic fermentation with fresh pineapple concentrate. Washed. Dried on raised beds. Rested until the profile fully develops. It placed 1st at the 2025 Uganda Taste of Harvest.

Ibrahim Kiganda — the processing manager who oversaw this lot — placed 4th at the 2025 World Barista Championship in Milan. Uganda is now Africa’s #1 coffee exporter.

We first met Mountain Harvest on Juneteenth. They trusted us with the North Star Sipi. Memphis received it. Now they’re sharing something from the reserve. We don’t take that lightly.
